Welcoming the New
New Earth Beckons (12)
The new is constant whether we recognize it or not.
Quite literally, with every breath we are inhaling new — new vitality.
Inherent within new vitality is new opportunity — new opportunity to experience, and to enjoy.
For very young children everything is new as they explore their environs — with boundless energy, curiosity and enthusiasm.
Implicitly, they are “welcoming the new”.
How much of this welcoming way-of-being do we retain?
Every day, there is a new dawn. Every day, there is a new sunset. And in between sunrise and sunset there are new possibilities, hence new-ness to be welcomed.
New beginnings are within the cyclical nature of the days and the moon cycles and the seasons — and Nature’s year, expressed within the cultural context as a calendar year.
Now, on the first day of the new calendar year, we stand at a threshold welcoming the new.
A new gateway has been opened, within the sequential counting of days and months and a year, and we enter — both welcomed and welcoming.
Our welcomes can be multi-faceted and unlimited — new clarity, new insight, new opportunity, new expression, new accomplishments, new friends, new appreciation, new contributions, new solutions, new savoring.
Welcoming the new is a way-of-being that holds great power, as it also connects us with our own youthfulness — the child within who remembers the joy of discovery and welcomes each day as a time to play.
That has not changed, really. However, grownups tend to forget. Where there has been a forgetting there can be a remembering.
Do enjoy welcoming the new!
